Submission Guidelines for The Xenia Review

Eligibility:

The Xenia Review publishes work by writers who have experienced displacement, including but not limited to those who currently hold refugee and/or asylum-seeker status anywhere in the world.

We never interrogate our authors about their origins or background. If you feel that you are eligible to submit, then please do so.

Language:

The Xenia Review welcomes work in any language.

Subject Matter:

Submissions are welcomed on any subject. You may choose to address issues of exile, immigration and refugee experiences if you wish, but this is not required.

We accept fiction and non-fiction, poetry and prose and anything in between!

Length:

  • Prose submissions – up to 1,000 words.
  • Poetry submissions – up to 50 lines.
  • If you wish to submit a longer piece, please contact us first.

We publish all works under a Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)

This license lets others remix, adapt, and build upon your work non-commercially, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms.

The choice of license is designed to allow for the greatest possible dissemination of the work through translation and/or adaptation, while ensuring that the original author remains credited.

Simultaneous Submission Policy

We accept simultaneous submissions, but ask that you notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.

We cannot accept work that has been previously published. This includes online publications and blogs.
